This is a great deck build that Derek did for his Son Danny. Enjoy!
"HI Norah,
Just wanted to send you an email and say thanks for all your help. In my last email I told you I didn't have the breather netting. Well I ended up making a substitute with a grid of small cord and tape. It actually worked very well. I will probably contact you in the near future to get the real stuff, and order some more wood.
We ended up having Danny's (my son) birthday last Saturday, and so I just barely managed to finish his skateboard in time for his party. As a matter of fact I was two hours late to his party because I was at my friends house putting the graphics on it and stopping by the skate shop to have them put some grip tape on.
I thought you might like to see a couple pictures of the finished product, so I have attached a couple to this email.
For the artwork... well Danny wanted it to have something Dungeons and Dragons on it, so we put some of the old TSR logos on it (before Wizards bought them out; back when they were a real RPG company, but I digress...) Anyway, I scanned in some old logos and had a friend of mine print them on his vinyl printer. I used the blue dyed layer on the bottom of the stack so as the board gets scraped up the blue will show through instead of just natural wood color.
I took Danny down to the local skate shop yesterday to buy the hardware. They guys at the shop approved, said I got an A+, and asked how much I charged. That made me feel good, I humbly replied and said that they couldn't afford this level of craftsmanship. ( j/k ) But in all seriousness, they said it looked very well made, and was maybe just a tad heavy. They have seen lots of people try and make their own boards, but this was the best they had seen yet. Danny is thrilled beyond expression, and two of his friends already have put orders in.
Thanks again for the great communication and support. Have an excellent day!
Derek"
