Coolest Steps in the World

This is a set of steps I made for our skateboard school. The aluminium beam is a solid billet of aluminium and the decks were custom made with concave only on one edge. You should see the look on our students faces when they make the treck to the basement. More pictures with the railing added.

  2. nice but not really built to code… needs a handrail… pun intended. but seriously freestanding stairs need some sort of handrail… the common trick is to install a handrail for building inspectors to approve then have it removed. not that i condone breaking safety codes.

  3. The pictures of the steps were taken before they were completly finished. I am happy to say the steps now have a handrail.

  7. I read the previous comment about setting up a handrail, then removing it… Does this cover one on the wall? Im unclear on the building code, I just wish it was broad enough to allow for a handrail on the wall, so as to leave the room open.

  15. Where did you get the decks?
Were they full price or did you snag a deal for them being naked?

  19. Nice rail slide… You should incorporate a truck base for the handrail.. and use a 1 1/4 grindrail as a handrail…that would be money… how much for the billet? must be makin some sweet bank on the boards>> love it

  21. Great stairs
Could you have supported them on trucks fixed to struts or would that be going too far?
